Perfecting an eyelash routine is no easy feat, particularly if you’re after a major curl. Sometimes, it requires bringing in the big guns, and by that, we mean the best heated eyelash curlers. Unlike traditional eyelash curlers that rely on pressure, these devices use heat to both lift, shape, and set the curl, similar to how hot styling tools shape your hair — but at a significantly lower heat setting suitable for the eye area.

There are many reasons why someone might be drawn to a heated lash curler over a manual curler, one being that most don’t clamp your lashes, so they are less damaging on fine or thin lashes. They’re also ideal for those with stick-straight lashes that resist curling in general. Celebrity makeup artist Kasey Spickard says that a heated method will be more long-lasting, similar to how curling iron curls will hold longer than a heatless curl method. As for those wondering, “Are heated eyelash curlers safe?” Yes! These tools reach a warm, not hot, temperature that prevents singed lashes.

Just like with the best mascaras, no heated eyelash curler is created equal. There are a few different versions on the market, the most popular being wand and comb options. The benefit of these over traditional clamps is they tend to create a more natural, fanned-out appearance, rather than a clamp that leaves a stark indentation. With the help of Spickard, plenty of research, and product testing, we’ve zeroed in on the eight best heated eyelash curlers for lifted lashes.

Luxuring Store Heated Eyelash Curler

Heat settings: 3
Power source: Battery-operated
Special features: Records temperature used for last application for next use
Amazon Top-Quality Store Badge on Google: 4.5/5 stars

This TikTok-famous beauty product closely mirrors the design of a traditional eyelash curler with a clamping mechanism. It replicates the age-old practice of warming an eyelash curler with a blow dryer, minus the additional step. Offering three customizable heat settings, with the hottest one suitable for your favorite false lashes or magnetic lashes too, the device lights up with corresponding colors for each temperature level. The brand recommends 149 degrees Fahrenheit (its lowest setting) for short lashes, 167 degrees for “average” lashes, and 185 degrees for long lashes. However, gradually building up the heat is the safest way to make sure your lashes respond well to the process.

What testers say: “These have made my eyelashes get so many compliments. I no longer wear fake lashes because of it. I always would deal with clumping and this truly separates every lash. The brow wand is also amazing and so soft great for everyday lamination.”

How to Use a Heated Eyelash Curler

How you use a heated eyelash curler varies, depending on which design you choose. If you’re using one that applies under the lash line, similar to a manual curler, start by carefully placing your lashes between the clamps. Press them together for the period of time recommended by the brand, and slowly release to reveal your curl. For wand designs, simply use it like a lash comb, beginning at the root of your lashes and gently pushing upward to form a lifted curl.

Spickard advises that traditional water-based mascaras should be applied before using your heated lash curler. If you coat the lashes after you curl, you run the risk of weighing them down with product, which may reverse the fresh curl (similar to if you wet your hair after using a curling iron). His ideal recommendation is to use a tubing mascara after curling your lashes. What makes tubing mascara different from regular mascara is that polymers create “tubes” around each individual lash, which work as built-in lash extensions and lock in the curl.
