“Barbie-mania” has come and gone, but celebrities loving pink hair is forever. Joey King, Megan Fox, and Lizzo are just a few of the numerous celebrities who have been spotted in the pink-hair trend but the most recent to join in on the fun is Kylie Jenner.

On Jan. 17, Jenner posted a reveal of her new look, and fans were quick to liken it to her “King Kylie” era when she was known to wear bold hair colors like blue, green, and lavender. “Hiiiii remember me,” the reality-TV star captioned her Instagram picture posing with tousled pink waves. While it’s likely this new hairstyle is courtesy of a wig, the sudden spike in interest in the hair-color trend is certainly noticeable.

We’ve seen an uptick in celebrities with pink hair like this before. It was post-stay-at-home orders following the COVID-19 pandemic when many people were spending more time at home and experimenting with their looks. At the time, everyone from Kaia Gerber to Ava Phillippe and Dua Lipa gave pink hair a try.

The color’s popularity might be due to what it represents. “This is culture-specific, so I am speaking in terms of American culture, but pink is usually seen as a romantic, youthful, cheerful, and whimsical color,” Naomi Torres-Mackie, PhD, head of research at The Mental Health Coalition and practicing psychologist at New York City’s Lenox Hill Hospital, previously told POPSUGAR of the psychology behind pink hair. The color can make us feel calm, happy, and excited.

Not to mention, with the popularity of the “Barbie” movie, “Barbiecore” was a whole movement, and its influence is still being felt not just in the hair department but in nails, makeup, and fashion, too.

Ahead, we rounded up a list of celebrities with pink hair to inspire you to take the plunge.
