As a millennial who likes to pretend she’s part of the Gen Z crowd (at least when it comes to my outfits on a Friday night at the bar), I’m very aware that I’m aging. Gracefully, of course, but that doesn’t mean I don’t occasionally wish I could stop time (if only to combat the gray hair and wrinkles already cropping up). There are a few beauty products I rely on to help me look (and feel) my best, and one of the brands I continually find myself turning to is Summer Fridays.

If you’re new to the brand, the first thing I need to say to you is how?! (Heavy on the exclamation point.)

Every product I’ve tried thus far has been an instant favorite. Whether it’s the Lip Butter Balm with a cult following or the editor-loved tinted lip oils, the products are chic and work hard to make me look just a little bit better. The brand’s Jet Lag Mask is my go-to whenever I’m having issues with dry, irritated skin, so when I heard it was dropping an eye-serum version of the same product, aptly named the Jet Lag Overnight Eye Serum ($46), I was eager to get my hands on it.

After testing it just once and waking up looking like a million bucks, I knew it was a winner. While I don’t plan to skip my upcoming Botox appointment for my ever-worsening crow’s-feet, with time, this serum may end up giving my injector a run for her money.

About the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Overnight Eye Serum

  • This product is an overnight eye serum that promises to hydrate and minimize fine lines.
  • It’s formulated for all skin types.
  • The key ingredients include glycerin for hydration; retinol and retinyl linoleate, a naturally derived pro-retinol, to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; and licorice-root extract to combat puffiness.
  • It’s cruelty-free and formulated without parabens, phthalates, and sulfates.
  • It contains less than one percent synthetic fragrance.

What I Like About the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Overnight Eye Serum

The Summer Fridays Jet Lag Overnight Eye Serum isn’t exactly what I thought it would be, just based on the name alone. Although it’s touted as a serum, it’s a bit thicker in consistency, but don’t let that scare you. It still manages to feel lightweight, and it blends into skin easily without leaving behind a heavy residue.

The formula is gentle, hydrating, and, most importantly for me, nonirritating. Recently, I’ve noticed tiny red dots appearing around the corners of my undereyes. While I was originally worried that the retinol in this product would exacerbate the issue, it seemed to do the opposite. While I normally wake up in the morning with puffy undereyes (OK, puffy everything), I found that the morning after I tested this product for the first time, my face looked a lot better.

How to Use the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Overnight Eye Serum

The brand recommends applying a small amount of product around the contour of each eye in the evening. I like keeping my eye serum in the fridge to make application feel even more luxurious. After cleansing my face at night and patting it dry, I apply this product before any other product in my skin-care routine. I take the tube and apply two or three small dots of the product underneath each eye, and then I use my ring finger to tap the product into my skin lightly, working my way outward and adding a little above my eye as well.

What to Consider Before Trying the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Overnight Eye Serum

One thing to note about this product is it’s not cheap (but as they say, neither are you). Priced at $46 for half an ounce, it’s one of the more expensive eye products I’ve tested. However, while half an ounce isn’t a lot of product, luckily a little goes a long way.

Additionally, this product is recyclable after you discard the cap.
