After years of manipulating my naturally curly hair with a blow dryer and curling iron, I’m pivoting to a much healthier approach that doesn’t require so many steps. I’ve ditched the hot tools and am allowing my hair to air dry so that my natural curls can form. During the winter, though, there are few things I dread more than waiting for my wet hair to dry, especially if I’m ready for bed. While researching tips for styling curly hair, I came across the Volo Hero Hair Towel ($44), which promises to dry hair more gently and efficiently than a typical towel.
I was curious if it could significantly speed up the air-drying process on my thick, long hair. After seeing how incorporating curly-hair products like this Briogeo deep conditioning hair mask helped to hydrate and define my curls, I decided to give the quick-drying, frizz-fighting towel a try. Keep reading for my full review.
About the Volo Hero Hair Towel
- The fabric is made from a nanoweave blend of polyester and chinlon and is extremely absorbent.
- It comes in three colors: gray, off-white, and coral.
- It includes a strap at the bottom meant to help hold your towel in place.
What I Like About the Volo Hero Hair Towel
You can’t tell by the images online, but the towel is ridiculously fluffy and soft. The size is also perfect – large enough to envelope your hair but small enough so that it feels balanced and weightless. With a typical bath towel, I usually leave it on for five minutes or so since it starts unraveling and toppling off my head as I move around. The small strap on this towel means that I can twist it and tuck the end in so that it stays secure. I can make breakfast in my bath robe with my hair wrapped in the towel and don’t have to worry about it falling down.
As far as drying time goes, it really does absorb the water much more efficiently than a typical bath towel. It’s definitely cut my drying time in half, which makes me dread washing my hair so much less. I can even wash it in the evening now without worrying about going to bed with wet hair. I’ve also noticed that it doesn’t rough my hair up like my cotton towels would. My hair is less tangled and even less frizzy when I dry it with the Hero Hair Towel.
How to Use the Volo Hero Hair Towel
To use it, hang your head down so that your hair falls. Open the towel so that the strap you’ll use for tucking is at the base of your head. With your head down, twist your hair into the towel. Then, place the twisted portion of the towel on top of your head and tuck the very end of it into the strap.
What to Consider Before Trying the Volo Hero Hair Towel
If you have very short hair, some customers have mentioned that it will help to dry hair faster but that your hair may dry in a funny shape where pieces are sticking up instead of drying flat. It’s also worth mentioning that you’ll want to launder this towel differently than you do your cotton towels. You can still machine wash but you’ll need to tumble dry it on a low heat setting.
Where Is the Volo Hero Hair Towel Available?
The Volo Hero Hair Towel is available at Nordstrom, Amazon, and Volo Beauty.
