Tracee Ellis Ross went back to her footwear roots at the Ebony Power 100 Gala on Tuesday. Not only did the actress have a reunion with her “Girlfriends” castmates on the red carpet, but she also attended the event at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles wearing a pair of her go-to Christian Louboutin So Kate heels.
The actress paired the shoes with a neon yellow Mugler dress with a sculptural design and dramatic ruching at the waist and a classy mid-length skirt. She styled it with her hair pulled back into a tight bun, silver drop earrings and a bold red lip and the So Kate heels in black. Ross is a self-proclaimed So Kate die-hard fan and has previously spoken about being an early adopter of the style.

For the Ebony event, she went for the heels in black patent leather, which feature a sharp pointed toe, a slender stiletto heel measuring 120mm, and a bold cut around the vamp. The shoes retail for $945 and are available in tan, and are also offered in a variety of styles and designs like an embellished strass version. The shoes were released in 2012 and were named after Kate Moss, and have since amassed a cult following.
While on the red carpet, Ross shared a special moment where she reunited with her “Girlfriends” castmates Jill Marie Jones, Golden Brooks and Persia White. The actresses starred on the show from September 2000 to September 2008, and they recently reunited for a commercial for Ross’ Pattern Beauty brand. Jones opted for a pair of PVC strappy sandals, while Brooks went for a platform T-Strap embellished pump in black.
Fashion and style have long been a part of Ross’ life, and during an episode of Harper’s Bazaar series, “The Good Buy” in 2024, she opened up about her affinity for the So Kate shoes, which are now associated with other stars like Zendaya.
“So the Louboutin So Kate, I’ve been wearing for years,” Ross said in the interview. “I’ve been wearing it honestly since around ‘Girlfriends.’ I bought a version of the So Kate. It was a white pump that was all crystal on the outside and I decided that was my wedding shoe so I bought three pairs of them. I still have all three pairs of them. No wedding plans, I still haven’t gotten married. Now I’m like I don’t want to wear that shoe, I want to wear a flat. But I still have it.”
