Australian twins Elisha and Renee Herbert are joining the long list of models starring in Sports Illustrated’s 2025 Swimsuit issue. The Herbert sisters will make their debut as SI rookies, almost 50 years since the last pair of twins was featured in the publication.

The first and last twins to appear in a Sports Illustrated issue were Swedish sisters Yvette and Yvonne Sylvander, who posed for the January 1976 SI cover.

For their debut, Derek Kettela photographed Elisha and Renee Herbert in Switzerland. They were styled in white bikinis by sustainable swimwear brand Jade Swim, with Elisha wearing the Reiss top and Lana bottom, and Renee in the Paloma top and Cami bottom. Their looks were complete with cropped faux fur coats by Apparis.

A preview of the photo shoot was shared on SI’s Instagram account on Thursday.

The Herbert sisters are ambassadors of Alo Yoga and have worked with brands such as Versace, Gucci and Calvin Klein.

“I’d say the most exciting [collaborations] for us are ones we feel morally good about and feel like we are creating lifelong connections with people who align with us,” they told SI about partnering with brands. “It’s interesting how easy people can tell that you don’t align with a brand,” they said. “You have to feel like they are giving you creative freedom because that’s when products sell the most — when an audience feels it’s authentic.”

Camille Kostek, Hunter McGrady, Jordan Chiles, Gabby Thomas and Brianna LaPaglia are some of the names announced for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2025 issue, which will be released in May.
