Workwear has long been a big influence in fashion and Urban Outfitters is hoping to capitalize on its popularity with a new collection.
The retailer has teamed with Cat apparel and Reclaimed Inc. on a collection of unisex workwear-inspired looks.
Julian Felix, founder of the Los Angeles-based Reclaimed streetwear brand, tapped into Cat’s history in the workwear arena for a nine-piece collection of pants, shorts, T-shirts, tanks, vests and jackets.
The collection was created from durable materials, features a neutral color palette of black, gray and white and will retail for $39 to $159.
“At Urban Outfitters, we have long been fans of Julian’s work for Reclaimed,” said Clynton Cox, buyer for Urban Outfitters‘ men’s branded and partnerships. “We were introduced to his brand, Reclaimed, around 2020 on Instagram, and his amalgamation of reworking garments and his perspective on fashion fits, fabrication and silhouette were unique in a way that cut through the market. As Urban Outfitters and Cat grew our relationship together and started exploring partnerships to creatively invigorate the business, partnering with Reclaimed was a natural fit, as Julian had already been designing with workwear fits and materials.”
California-based Felix grew up shopping with his mother at secondhand stores and began selling vintage clothes to friends and on eBay in high school. He created Reclaimed in 2016 and the company sells reclaimed, reimagined and vintage apparel.
“I envision everyone wearing this collection,” Felix said. “That’s another thing that I love about this project. It’ll be the first time Reclaimed is accessible to everyone at fair price points.”
The collection will be available in select Urban Outfitters stores and online beginning Tuesday. The retailer operates more than 200 stores in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
Cat apparel traces its history to the Caterpillar brand of construction equipment that was founded in 1904. The apparel arm produces both workwear and lifestyle product.
