Veja is shining a light on one of its in-house cobblers for its latest collaboration.
The sneaker brand is teaming with Dover Street Market for a limited-edition sneaker collection that is said to pay tribute to craftsmanship. The collection offers 20 styles of Veja’s V-90 model, with each pair crafted by the brand’s in-house cobbler, named Walter.
The collection continues Veja’s mission of sustainability with the cobbler reusing leather waste pieces to create patterns on the back of the sneakers. Each pair is uniquely designed and offers various colorways.
Over the last few years, Veja has opened four stores across the globe each with its own in-house cobbler. The brand also employs a mobile cobbler service at its Paris warehouse, who helps clean and repair Veja sneakers. Overall the brand employs 11 Veja cobblers who have repaired more than 18,000 sneakers to date.
The limited-edition Veja collection is exclusive to Dover Street Market Ginza in Japan, with prices starting at 250 yen and going up to 40,000 yen.
Earlier this year, Veja expanded its cobbler program to two new locations in Madrid and Brooklyn after previously operating in Veja locations in Berlin and Paris. In 2022, the brand embarked on several high-fashion collaborations, including with the likes of Marni and Mansur Gavriel. Earlier this month, Veja also teamed with Reformation for a sustainable sneaker offered in two colorways.
