Vivica A. Fox, the actress, producer and TV host, has teamed with HSN to design a collection of day-into-evening looks.
The collection, which launches on hsn.com Thursday, includes eight pieces that combine luxe fabrics, vibrant and classic colors, embellishments and prints. Prices range from $49 to $69.
Fox will introduce the collection on HSN’s “The List,” on Feb. 6 and will be on-air on Feb. 8 at 2 and 7 p.m.
“I’ve always loved fashion. I used to model back in the day when I first got into the business,” said the 60-year-old Fox. She said she designed a small online collection about two years ago called FoxyBreed for a year, which she did with actress and friend Ciarra Carter. HSN approached Fox about two years ago and said it wanted to work with her. Fox proposed they do a collaboration with Carter as well, but HSN said they wanted to do it exclusively with Fox. Carter gave Fox her blessings.
About six months ago, HSN and Fox started talking seriously about a collaboration.

“HSN is a well-oiled machine. The process then went from zero to 100,” Fox said. The next thing she knew she was in New York meeting with Apparel Solutions, a private label manufacturer that works with HSN. Janet Scibetta and Jill Rogers are the designing team for Fox’s collection at Apparel Solutions.
“I remember I was coming from taping the ‘Tamron Hall’ show, and as soon as I walked in, Janet said, ‘Oh my God, we must do this dress.’
“It is totally based on my sense of style,” Fox said describing the aesthetic. “We’ve got cute tops that are coming out, a suit collection that’s a three-piece suit that we all designed together with track stripes down the side and on the trim of the top.” She also has designed a dress she loves.
“We designed this beautiful ruche dress that we hope will go over well for Valentine’s Day because I come out a week before Valentine’s Day,” she said.
Highlights of the collection are the red ruche dress, the three-piece suit and “a wonderful monogram shirt with a blinged-out earring” and a pair of slacks.
“What I do love about the collection is it’s easy to go from day to night time. You can wear the top and the slacks by themselves, and if it gets a little crisp outside, you put on the jacket, and boom, you’re ready to go to dinner, and you put on a pair of heels…and work it,” Fox said.
The line is also affordable. “That was very important to me. It was very important to me to make the line affordable for our girls to feel good. We also are inclusive. We go from size XS to 3X. It’s definitely for the grown and sexy woman, but if a girl a little bit younger wants to rock it, they can too. We try to stay current and chic. It’s geared to a woman 25 and above.”
Fox said she’s looking forward to going on-air at HSN’s studios in St. Petersburg, Fla. “It’s going to be new for me. I’m looking forward to having a bright and long future with HSN,” she added. Fox said they’ve already started to work on spring and summer collections.
Bridget Love, general merchandise manager, vice president of fashion, jewelry and beauty at HSN, said, “The Vivica A. Fox collection was thoughtfully designed with our customer in mind and we feel strongly that the collection fills a white space in her closet. We look forward to future drops with Vivica, the next being in July.”
As far as specific design requirements, Fox said she wanted to make sure her customer, no matter what size, “got a waistline — to feel sexy and be comfortable at the same time too. For some reason, people think we want to put older women in muumuus, and we can’t be sexy. I wanted them to feel sexy and chic, and I love color.”
In addition to red and royal blue, she likes black. “Black can be slimming, but we add a little sparkle. There’s always going to be a touch of sparkle on the clothes as well. I love a touch of sparkle, if it’s on a sleeve. I wanted to make sure the sleeves weren’t overpowering,” she said.
Eventually, Fox said, she plans to add other categories, and will definitely do denim and some flared skirts, more tops with cutouts or a little bit of a ruffle. “We always want to have a white shirt that’s interesting, that’s easy to go to work and then nighttime.”
When asked to describe her personal style on the Teams call, she said, “As you can see, I’m a track suit girl.” She said they will eventually add athleisure because she travels so much. “I like to be comfortable, but still chic in a way,” Fox said.
She said she also loves a red carpet moment. “If I’m going to dinner, I’m a suit girl. I love a nice suit with some bling. I love jewelry too. I’ll wear a nice fitted dress. But I do love to slay a red carpet,” Fox said.
As for upcoming projects, she said, “I am totally obsessed and consumed with getting my line out,” noting she’ll be going to St. Petersburg a lot.
The actress is currently shooting the TV show, “Poppa’s House,” with Damon Wayans and Damon Wayans Jr., where she plays a judge. She also has a movie that comes out this summer, “Is God Is,” directed by Aleshea Harris with Sterling K. Brown, Janelle Monáe and Erika Alexander. Fox plays the mother in the film, which is about domestic violence. And she has another Lifetime movie coming out at the end of February in her “Wrong” franchise, which she executive produces and stars in, called “The Wrong Obsession.”
Although she loves going to New York Fashion Week and attending shows, her schedule doesn’t allow it this season. “I’ve been to tons of shows over the years. I love going [to New York Fashion Week] and checking out the models and the new lines coming out, and getting ideas.”
As for her own collection, she said, “I want all my ladies to feel chic, classy, current and comfortable.”
