Vivica A. Fox worked a geometric white pedicure into the story at the 8th annual American Black Film Festival Honors, wearing gold crystal platform sandals from René Caovilla with a velvet Balmain gown at the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles on Monday night.
Her Caovilla sandals came in a warm gold tone with dense gold crystal pavé from toe strap to platform. The open-toe pair showed a single mid-width band across the front of the foot and a built-up platform sole in a matching crystal-covered base. A white pedicure with a triangular motif sat just behind the strap.
Fox paired the sandals with a burgundy dress from Balmain. The velvet piece featured a sequined collar and coordinating trim around a keyhole cutout at the front. She carried a tonal, textured clutch with subtle shimmer and stacked on metal cuffs, bracelets and cocktail rings, plus teardrop earrings that complemented the warm metallic hue of her crystal-covered platforms.

Her shimmering platform sandals extend a recent run of René Caovilla moments on major stages and in street style sightings. Fox previously wore the Italian label’s flower-adorned sandals in New York City last November. At Super Bowl LX earlier in February, Karol G stepped onto Bad Bunny’s halftime show set in embellished Caovilla sandals as part of the beige-and-white “casita” segment. Last December, Thandiwe Newton went for a method-dressing moment in metallic gold Cleo snake-wrap sandals from the brand for the Anaconda premiere in Los Angeles, with the coiled ankle strap mirroring the film’s title creature.
The Venetian label has also kept its runway presence high, serving as the exclusive shoe partner for the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show last October with a bespoke set of crystal-studded sandals, boots and mules bearing its stardust sole.
Fox’s ABFF Honors appearance brings that same crystal-heavy craftsmanship onto a carpet dedicated to Black film. ABFF Honors gathered actors, directors and producers for an intimate dinner recognizing work across film and television. This year’s ceremony honored Angela Bassett, Dwayne Johnson, Jennifer Hudson, Damson Idris and Salli Richardson-Whitfield, along with the creative team behind “Sinners.” Fox attended with collaborators from “Is God Is,” the upcoming Aleshea Harris–directed film produced by Orion Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios.
