MILAN — Offering yet another take on weekend getaways Italian-style, Weekend Max Mara conscripted Giuliva Heritage cofounders Gerardo Cavaliere and Margherita Cardelli for a new collaboration.

Hinged on nonchalant tailoring with whiffs of countryside chic, the fall 2025 collection codesigned by the husband-and-wife duo debuts Wednesday during Milan Fashion Week.

The lineup explores both brands’ vision of understated and relaxed clothing, which can easily transition from business weekdays to Sundays out of town. The earthy color palette and eclectic mix-and-match patterns and textures enhance the laid-back attitude.

“I tried to create a mix of versatile garments, celebrating women’s harmony, grace and beauty,” Cavaliere said in an interview. “I looked at strong and self-empowered women who wear their personality and don’t need to show off.”

Giuliva Heritage was established in 2017, debuting at Paris Fashion Week as the result of the couple’s encounter in Rome while Cavaliere was running a bespoke men’s tailoring atelier and Cardelli was managing a luxury and lifestyle communication consultancy.

“The Giuliva Heritage wardrobe is filled with garments spanning every occasion of use, from formalwear to clothing intended for weekend getaways, so the tie-up with Weekend Max Mara was pretty natural,” Cardelli offered. “It conveys freedom and lightheartedness, as well as longing for discovery.”

Cavaliere’s design roots in the Neapolitan tailoring tradition are translated into a loose, pinstriped suit and a solid brown double-breasted number styled with roomy pants and layered over a matching utility shirt. A vintage-y chevron, drop-sleeved overcoat was paired with corduroy pants and a cable-knit cardigan or a leather midi skirt and tonal polo knit.

“The Weekend Max Mara team really gave space to my creativity and my vision for the collaboration, letting me reinterpret their codes,” Cavaliere offered. “I loved working closely with their seamstresses and share a lot of our signature sartorial techniques to come up with the final garments.”

The pair wanted the collection to feel current — in sync with Weekend Max Mara’s “contemporary eye,” as Cardelli said — and youthful. Consider, for example, the pairing a pleated denim skirt with boho vibes with a mannish windowpane blazer with exaggerated shawl lapels seemingly borrowed from one’s partner or grandfather.

Most of the looks are accessorized with leather riding boots and a revisited iteration of Weekend Max Mara’s signature Pasticcino Bag in vegetable-tanned leather with a textured surface.

The collection will hit stores in September and is flanked by editorial images starring Carolyn Murphy and her daughter Dylan Blue.

The tie-up with Giuliva Heritage is part of Weekend Max Mara’s Signature Capsule project, which each season tasks a designer or creative to reinterpret the house codes. Last September the brand linked with “Emily in Paris” actress Ashley Park.

Launched in 1983 as a casual outdoorsy collection, the brand is part of the Max Mara Fashion Group’s portfolio and is available in about 250 monobrand stores and department stores globally.
