Music artists have the power to influence the public with their songs, and sometimes, also with their fashion. That’s the case with the Grammy Awards nominees for 2024’s Best Album of the Year.
The ceremony will take place on Feb. 4 in Los Angeles, and fans are excited to see what Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Janelle Monáe, Jon Batiste and Boygenius are going to wear on the Grammys red carpet. But for these artists, this won’t be their first time at the rodeo.
Ahead of the ceremony, WWD takes a look back at what the 2024 Best Album of the Year nominees wore to their first Grammys red carpet.
Taylor Swift, Grammys 2008
Swift, who is nominated for her hit album “Midnights” in 2024, wore a purple strapless gown to her first Grammys red carpet in 2008. Her dress was designed by Sandi Spika Borchetta, wife of Swift’s former manager Scott Borchetta.
Miley Cyrus, Grammys 2008
Also debuting at the Grammys in 2008, Miley Cyrus, who is nominated this year for “Endless Summer Vacation,” wore a white and silver dress by Celine and Sergio Rossi shoes.
Janelle Monáe, Grammys 2009
Nominated in 2024 for “The Age of Pleasure,” Monáe, who is known today for her androgynous style, donned an equestrian-inspired outfit for her first Grammys red carpet in 2009.
Olivia Rodrigo, Grammys 2022
Rodrigo debuted at the Grammys in 2022, when she won the Best New Artist award for her album “Sour.” The singer wore an off-the-shoulder dress by Vivienne Westwood at the ceremony. In 2024, she is nominated for Best Album with “Guts.”
SZA, Grammys 2016
Sza debuted on the Grammys red carpet in 2016, wearing a two-piece set that featured a halter top and a miniskirt. Both pieces had vibrant prints. In 2024, she is nominated for Best Album with “SOS.”
Lana Del Rey, Grammys 2018
Lana Del Rey wore Gucci to her first Grammys red carpet in 2018. The singer chose a crystal starry-embellished dress for her debut at the ceremony in 2018. Currently, she is nominated for Best Album with “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd.”
Jon Batiste, Grammys 2018
Nominated for Best Album with “World Music Radio” in 2024, Batiste posed for the first time on the Grammys red carpet in 2018, wearing a black suit with a gold diamond pattern throughout.
Phoebe Bridgers, Grammys 2021
Bridgers’ first time on the Grammys red carpet was in 2021 when she wore a skeleton-inspired dress designed by Thom Browne. In 2024, she will be back with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, her Boygenius bandmates, with whom she is nominated for Best Album with “The Record.”
