Despite taking on the role of president of basketball at Reebok in 2023, Shaquille O’Neal’s retro signature line has been relatively quiet in recent years, with the NBA Hall of Famer instead focusing on a new crop of stars including Angel Reese. That will soon change as the Boston-based sportswear label introduces a brand new spin on his most memorable model.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Shaqnosis, Reebok is introducing a low-cut version of the sneaker on Jan. 22. The White/Black/Vector Red colorway retains all of the signature elements that made the original Shaqnosis stand out including its hypnotizing circular design, Dunkman branding and Reebok’s 1990s Hexalite hexagonal cushioning.

But this time around, Reebok presents the model in a first-of-its-kind low-top height, something that would have been nearly unheard of during the peak of O’Neal’s popularity in the ‘90s. At the time, high-top shoes were believed to be more supportive, particularly for bigger, high-impact players such as O’Neal.
However, in the decades since, low-top sneakers have become the go-to choice for NBA and WNBA players alike, a shift that is largely credited to the signature line of O’Neal’s Los Angeles Lakers teammate, Kobe Bryant. With low-top sneakers also overtaking high-tops in casual settings, the Shaqnosis Low offers a new level of lifestyle wearability for the retro model.
The Shaqnosis was originally released in 1996 and was O’Neal’s fifth signature shoe with Reebok following four iterations of his Shaq Attaq model. Along with the first Shaq Attaq, the sneakers are considered the most significant of O’Neal’s storied career.
In October of ’23, Reebok named O’Neal its first president of basketball. Another fellow Reebok alum and NBA Hall of Famer, Allen Iverson, was selected as vice president of basketball.
The Reebok Shaqnosis Low will be released Thursday, Jan. 22 at 10 a.m. ET from reebok.com and select Reebok retailers for $130.
