Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles brought decades of romantic runway style together on Wednesday night for the Los Angeles premiere of “Sense and Sensibility” at The United Theater.
For her look, Edgar-Jones turned to the popular ’90s and early aughts runway trend embraced by several celebrities in 2026. The “Normal People” breakout star wore a look from Chloé‘s spring 1999 collection. Designed by then-creative director Stella McCartney, the dress captured the romantic sensibilities of “Sense and Sensibility” author Jane Austen’s world.
The gown was designed with a structured, silk-corseted bodice in pale tone with wispy appliqués in red and blue. A silk gunmetal skirt flowed from the bodice to the arrival carpet, with a liquid effect that created a puddle of material trailing behind Edgar-Jones. Semi-sheer sleeves with botanical embroidery completed the look, which was curated by stylist Dani Michelle.

Creed-Miles eschewed ’90s trends in favor of contemporary style, wearing a look fresh off the runway from Simone Rocha‘s spring 2027 ready-to-wear collection, which debuted last September during London Fashion Week.
The strapless dress was designed with a fully flowing silhouette, with plenty of movement cast in a bubblegum pink tone. The midi hem of the dress included distressed petals for a full effect. The light and playful dress was contrasted by Creed-Miles’s black Christian Louboutin pointed-toe pumps. Stylist Karla Welch curated the actress’ look.
While Creed-Miles and Edgar-Jones’s respective Los Angeles premiere looks embraced runway pieces from separate decades, what unified their sister style choices was the romantic energy imbued into each design.
The overarching theme for both stars, but especially Edgar-Jones, has been nods to an Austen autumn, ushering in an era of their main character/heroine chapter. Though Simone Rocha’s pink fluff of formal attire from her spring 2027 collection was full of playful romance, Edgar-Jones’s structured Chloé design artfully contrasted with a past era’s traditional adoption of romantic verve.
“Sense and Sensibility,” directed by Georgia Oakley, is an adaptation of Jane Austen’s first novel. The story follows Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, played by Edgar-Jones and Creed-Miles, as they navigate romance and sisterhood following a sudden change in their prospects. “Sense and Sensibility” hits theaters Oct. 16 in the United States.
