Tracee Ellis Ross just proved that celebrities don’t need stylists to slay a red carpet. The actress attended the 2026 Daytime Emmys on Oct. 30, held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. The actress won an award for “Outstanding Travel and Adventure Program” for her Roku series, “Solo Traveling with Tracee Ellis Ross.”
Ross was her own stylist for the night, foregoing former collaborators like Karla Welch to create a look all her own, starting with a good pair of heels. The “American Fiction” star wore black slingback Giuseppe Zanotti shoes in the Intriigo style. Said shoe consists of glossy black leather uppers that transition into open rounded toes that show off the wearer’s manicure. The shoes also feature thin straps that wrap around the wearer’s heels to secure them in place, hence the slingback construction.
Stiletto heels standing at 3.5 inches and brown leather insoles embossed with the brand’s name rounded out the glossy shoes. This particular model was introduced during the footwear brand’s fall 2024 showing, but was previewed back in 2023. The slingback is most notable for its geometric construction and glossy leather uppers that give it a shine similar to spilled oil.

The style is a versatile one that can be worn with multiple ensembles, including all-black ones, because of its monochrome black finish. Ross is often one for colorful footwear, but for this occasion, the actress opted for something more subtle. The “Girlfriends” actress also styled herself in a Mugler jumpsuit in black. This particular style hails from the brand’s spring 2027 show and features a structural, angular neckline and equally structured bodice.
Black fabric jutted out from each side of Ross’ top at her hips, creating two trains that trailed at her sides as she walked the carpet. The garment also featured black tailored slacks that transitioned seamlessly from the top. As for accessories, Ross opted for chain-like statment earrings in gold and black with diamonds.
Ross’ hair was slicked back and situated in a tight bun at the back of her head. Each styling choice was meant to highlight the tailoring and silhouette of Ross’ look rather than focusing on color. The ensemble was all about texture and draping, something Mugler delivers in spades. The brand’s spring 2027 collection was designed by Miguel Castro Freitas. The showing marked the final chapter in the designer’s “Trilogy of Glorified Clichés,” which aims to explore the marriage of nature and technology.
