Roberto Cavalli‘s early-2000s collections have been getting plenty of red carpet time as of late.
Ashtin Earle joined in on Monday, bringing a metallic gown from the Italian designer’s fall 2005 ready-to-wear collection to the 2026 CFDA Fashion Awards in New York.
The strapless dress featured a gathered, twisted detail at the bust, with long, thin ties falling down the front. Its bronze-toned metallic fabric continued into a narrow, vertically pleated skirt, with a small train trailing behind her. Earle kept the rest of her look sleek and minimal, save for what appeared to be a black beaded rosary wrapped around her wrist.
The 23-year-old content creator is in good company when it comes to archival Cavalli. Just last week, Lucy Freyer arrived at WWD Honors in a floral dress from 2004, telling WWD, “This is 2004 Cavalli. I love a vintage moment, especially a vintage Cavalli.”
Katy Perry had made a similar trip to 2004 days earlier for a Dolly Parton tribute in Nashville, selecting an animal-print gown from the designer’s spring collection. And during the first week of October, La La Anthony went head-to-toe Cavalli for an appearance on “Today With Jenna & Sheinelle,” pairing printed separates with collectible boots from spring 2002. Earle’s dress traded all those florals and animal motifs for head-to-toe metallic pleats.
For Earle, the CFDA appearance also follows a big week professionally. On Oct. 26, WWD reported exclusively that she signed with IMG Models, which will work with her to develop her fashion and beauty portfolio. She had already attended spring 2027 shows for Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Balenciaga, Mugler, Calvin Klein and Michael Kors.
And the early-2000s references aren’t exactly new territory for her. In September 2025, Earle appeared in a Juicy Couture and Saint James Iced Tea campaign full of velour tracksuits and rhinestones. Her latest throwback came from a rather different corner of the decade.
Fashion’s biggest names gathered at New York’s American Museum of Natural History on Monday night for the 2026 CFDA Fashion Awards. Keke Palmer hosted the ceremony, which celebrated the best in American fashion, with nominees including Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Ralph Lauren, Willy Chavarria and Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen of The Row. Among those receiving special honors were Anthony Vaccarello, named International Designer of the Year; Tory Burch, recognized with the Positive Change Award; and Peter Marino, who took home the Fashion Icon Award.
