Denim’s practically and versatility were on full display in the street style looks seen at Copenhagen Fashion Week.

Attendees pulled out classic blue jeans throughout the five-day event, styling them with pieces as basic as hoodies and bomber jackets to layering them under sheer lace dresses. Fits varied, though most were relaxed or straight. While some of the wider fits puddled over boots, most were hemmed nearly at the top of the foot, allowing ballet flats and thong sandals to peak. Washes were medium to dark with an emphasize on natural wash patterns.

Wide-leg jeans became the canvas for more adventurous designs. Tints, laser and colorful sprays added dimension to slouchy jeans. Lacing and hardware gave a pair of black jeans an edgier look. One pair flipped traditional construction on its head, relocating the waistband and pockets to the leg hems.

Double denim was executed in various ways like a denim button-down shirt tucked into cuffed straight jeans and a chore jacket paired with paint splattered jeans. Men’s jeans were worn slouchy and puddled over the tops of loafers. The preferred wash had a yellowed look.

While there was fewer denim shorts compared to previous seasons, black pencil skirts stood out as an emerging trend. Front slits made it easy to navigate fashion week on a bike, while silver grommets elevated the wardrobe staple.
