There aren’t many sneakers from the late 1990s that still look futuristic today, but Nike’s Foamposite franchise is certainly one of them. So much so that the shoe’s wavy, colorful lines are continuing to inform new product including the Beaverton, Ore.-based company’s recently launched First Sight Shadow.
Now, after a stealthy black spin on the sneaker and a chrome-like Metallic Silver, the Nike First Sight Shadow is further leaning into its Foamposite lineage with a new Light Crimson red look. Reminiscent of past classics such as the Metallic Red Air Foamposite One, the First Sight Shadow carries the vibrant, candy paint-like look of the shelled sneaker into a new generation.

“With each of these shoes, you feel the ferocity of the color — like it’s coming at you in a very real way. We were inspired by athlete motion and emotion. There’s an intense and sculptural vision with each shoe. Still, every model has a glimmer — a sheen or a shine — that catches the eye and brings in brightness and levity,” Jeff Scott, expert product line manager of energy footwear and collaborations at Nike, said in a press release.
Designed exclusively for women, the First Sight Shadow leans more casual than performance with its slip-on construction, but it’s also equipped for getting around with ease thanks to its custom basketball-inspired traction pattern.
“These shoes were truly made from scratch, with our designers gathering insights from around the world to create new art forms that speak to today’s female athlete. Each silhouette is inspired by sport, infused with Nike-only energy, and crafted for women who want to push the boundaries of self-expression,” Thomasin Hummerstone, senior director of energy footwear at Nike, said in a press release announcing the First Sight collection, which also includes the First Sight Noir and First Sight Mirage.
The Nike First Sight Shadow Light Crimson is available now from Nike’s Snkrs app exclusively in women’s sizes through 11 at a retail price of $145. The sneaker’s style code is HQ2410-600.
