Priscila Presley, who became known for her marriage to Elvis Presley and her Mod-themed style in the ’60s, is capturing the attention of modern fashion and beauty enthusiasts thanks to the release of Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla” last October. The movie, which features Cailee Spaeny as Priscilla and Jacob Elordi as Elvis, has made more than $25 million at the box office worldwide.

Since the movie premiere, search interest for “Priscilla Presley makeup” has spiked online, going up 900 percent on Google compared to the same period in 2022. Searches for her makeup and outfits have also increased on Pinterest since November with 90 percent of the queries being created by women between the ages of 16 and 24. On TikTok, videos under “Priscilla Presley makeup” have garnered over 2.5 billion views.

During the ‘60s, Priscilla was often seen wearing a beehive hairstyle, winged eyeliner makeup with vibrant eye shadows and colorful shift dresses. On Pinterest and TikTok, users can find tutorials on how to dress like her and copy her makeup style.

Coppola entrusted the mission of recreating Priscilla’s style to costume designer Stacey Battat, makeup artist Jo-Ann MacNeil and hairstylist Cliona Furley in her movie. The team recreated some of Priscilla’s memorable looks — including her 1967 wedding look.

Priscilla’s style, including her makeup, was highly influenced by Elvis after she moved to Graceland in 1963. “He did want me to dye my hair black when I was young so we could look alike a little bit,” Priscilla revealed in 2015 on ITV’s “This Morning” show.

Coppola’s film portrays Elvis as involved in Priscilla Presley’s fashion and makeup choices. In one scene, Elordi, as Elvis, suggests that Priscilla should wear more eye makeup to make her blue eyes stand out.

“I always had a little bit of makeup. He never wanted to see me getting dressed, he wanted to see the end result,” Priscilla told British show “Loose Women” in 2016.

Priscilla has swapped her ‘60s wardrobe for Gothic-inspired pieces over the decades, often donning all-black outfits in public appearances. Since the ‘90s, she has also had vibrant red hair, though she has stuck with the black eyeliner.

In October, A24, which distributed “Priscilla” in the U.S., released a makeup collection with Half Magic that included an Eyelectric ultra-black mascara, a Magic Flik black liquid eyeliner and the Wing Magician reusable wing guide.

Coppola’s “Priscilla” is available for streaming on Apple TV and Prime Video. The movie recently premiered in the U.K., where it has made around $1.6 million at the box office since Jan. 5.
