Reebok is teaming with cult London publisher and design studio Idea on a new take on the court shoe model Club C 85.

Dubbed Reebok x Idea Club C 85, the project applied Idea’s eye to the classic Reebok style. It comes with an Idea-designed upper in suede and canvas, glow-in-the-dark details, custom tongue labels, heel branding, terry lining, a bespoke footbed, tonal laces with an extra lace option and custom packaging.

“Because we approached this collaboration as an homage, we looked for the most perfect shoe and found it in the Club C,” said Idea cofounder David Owen.

“Some designs never need replacing, rebooting or reinventing. At Idea, we’re drawn to the details that make something feel timeless, while finding subtle ways to make it relevant today. The glow-in-the-dark elements add a hidden element to the shoe, revealing itself in unexpected moments, much like the references and details we’re always exploring,” Owen added.

For Jacob Sheppard, designer at Idea, the collaboration is rooted in personal memory and 1990s sports culture, like seeing Reebok pumps for the first time on his neighbor; the Workouts from the first Palace collaboration; Shaquille O’Neal’s Shaqnosis basketball shoe in the movie “Kazaam,” and Ryan Giggs in his Reebok turtleneck.

Since launching in 2011, Idea has built a following by turning overlooked vintage books, sports memorabilia and advertising into collectible objects. It operates a store on Wardour Street in Soho, and is present globally online and through Dover Street Market’s retail network.

Mubi Ali, global senior product marketing manager at Reebok, praised Idea’s ability to “uncover meaning in everyday artifacts and present them in a way that feels fresh and relevant.”

“This collaboration allows us to revisit our archive through a new lens while celebrating the moments that continue to inspire future generations,” Adi continued.

Retailing for $130, the Reebok x Idea Club C 85 model will launch this week at Dover Street Market ahead of its global release on Aug. 13.
