Tracee Ellis Ross made a bold entrance at the New Museum’s Spring Gala on Wednesday evening in New York.
The “American Fiction” star opted for a high-neck hand-painted satin dress from Marni‘s fall 2024 collection, which she accessorized with a pair of blue Christian Louboutin pumps.
Stylist Karla Welch, whose other clients include America Ferrera and Kristen Wiig, dressed Ross for the occasion.
Hairdresser Chuck Amos styled the actress’ brunette tresses in braids, while makeup artist Romy Soleimani gave Ross winged eyeliner, coral blush and a nude lip.
Ross has been known to favor Marni designs — the actress sported a pink strapless dress by the Italian label at an “American Fiction” screening in 2023.
Last month, Ross’ mother, Diana Ross, celebrated her 80th birthday. “Amidst shattering records, breaking glass ceilings, and setting a new bar for style and glamour, we, her children, were always her priority,” Tracee wrote on Instagram. “As I often say, ‘Diana Ross’ the beloved global icon is legendary but she doesn’t hold a candle to my Mama.”
Tracee famously made her runway debut alongside her mother at Thierry Mugler’s spring 1991 show. When Mugler approached Diana to appear in the presentation, she did so on one condition — that her daughter, Tracee, then 18 years old and an aspiring model, walk in the show with her. The mother-daughter duo strutted alongside supers like Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell.
