Ziwe took the season’s thong sandal trend to the Courrèges front row on Wednesday, wearing a bright orange satin pair for Drew Henry’s spring 2027 debut at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. The shoes took one of warm weather’s simplest constructions and moved it firmly out of casual territory and into a more polished, front-row ready silhouette.
Her sandals featured a squared-off open toe, a broad satin vamp and a narrow toe post that divided the front of the shoe. The backless pair rose on a high, sculpted, cone-shaped heel covered in the same orange satin, keeping the color uninterrupted.

Ziwe paired the heels with a pale butter-yellow skirt suit that nodded to Courrèges’ 1960s, space age-influenced vocabulary. The cropped jacket featured a rounded collar, turned cuffs and two rows of translucent amber-toned buttons, while the matching miniskirt crossed diagonally at the front with another pair of buttons. A complementary red pedicure made the orange satin shoes pop even more.
The color made particular sense at Henry’s first show for the house. While digging through the Courrèges archive, the designer told WWD he was struck by how much color he found in the years before André Courrèges’ landmark spring 1964 Space Age collection. “The amount of color was amazing,” Henry said. His debut carried that discovery into zesty shades of its own, including bright greens, yellows and oranges.
Thong sandals have been finding progressively dressier ways through Fashion Month, too. Jordyn Woods wore her own Woods by Jordyn Stunt Sandal to the Michael Kors show in New York on Sept. 11, choosing a gray version with a micro-square toe, 4.25-inch heel and a feather-covered ankle cuff.
Dakota Johnson took the silhouette in another direction during New York Fashion Week. She wore Jude’s Yaga wedge flip-flops on back-to-back outings, first with jeans and a bodysuit and then with a long black Toteme dress. Footwear News labeled heeled thong sandals the summer’s biggest footwear trend, noting that the trend would be likely to continue throughout the unexpectedly warm fall months.
