Global Citizen is returning to New York City for its annual Global Citizen Festival, taking over Central Park’s Great Lawn once again. The annual event calls on fans of music to take action toward ending extreme poverty around the world. The festival coincides with the United Nations General Assembly to leverage opportunities with various countries’ governments and take steps toward defeating poverty, demanding equity and protecting the planet.
Like many Global Citizen events, there will be a slate of music performers who are loaning their talents to raise awareness for the organization’s cause. Here, WWD has rounded up a how-to-watch and what-to-know guide.
How can you watch the Global Citizen Festival in New York?
The event will be livestreamed globally across Global Citizen’s platforms on Sept. 23. Amazon Music will host the livestream on their Twitch channel “Amazon Music on Twitch.” Twitch is free to use regardless of whether or not you have an account.
Viewers can also watch the festival via YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Veeps, Hulu, Prime Video, Apple TV, ABC and the Global Citizen App.
Who is performing at the Global Citizen Festival in New York?
The lineup of performers includes Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lauryn Hill, Jungkook, Anitta, Conan Gray, D-Nice, Sofia Carson and Stray Kids.
How can I get tickets?
Prospective attendees can download the Global Citizen App and earn points to get free tickets to the show in Central Park. Signing petitions, sharing messages on social media and writing letters to politicians help earn festival points that can be used to enter ticket drawings. You must be over 18 to enter and win tickets.
There are two separate ticket draws left before Sept. 23, including one currently going on until Sept. 11, and another from Sept. 12 to 19. Each draw costs 60 points. The draw can be entered both times if tickets aren’t won the first time. Each draw closes at midnight. Winners will be notified the next day.
